How did you get started ?
Listening to Moby and EdgeClub first peaked my interest. I first started listening to electronic music when I was 16 and started going out when I was 17 (I'm 24 now). Started recording mixtapes and listening to them when I would come home from a party. Everything really struck a cord. This music was tough! Started going out of town to "raves" and ventured to OKC with some friends. Saw DJ Ed (Now Ed Crunk) and he dropped R.I.P Groove and it blew my mind. It was the first time I heard speed garage and I freaked! Totally overwhelmed me. I began spinning at friends houses, finally got my own decks and really focused my energy on finding that sound. After about a million tries, I finally completed a mix tape and sat in my bedroom dubbing copies on my ghetto-stereo. Gave one to a guy named Ty Thomason (from Eye to Eye.) He was doing shows at the time and booked me for a couple of them.

Everything worked well and they invited me into the crew. Things were kickin'! Kept passing out mixtapes and eventually hooked up with the 32 Degrees crew and worked a lot with them and Decibel. Got a bunch of experience playing out from the DMC and Decibel days. Learned a lot from these two crews and decided to start doing things on my own. Started the concept of Prototype Industries, doing events at Decibel. Decibel closed and moved out to Bronco Bowl and some other area venues. It has been a learning experience from day 1! Since then we've done some cool events, affiliated with some wikid wikid talent (Red Eye, Kai, Ed Crunk, Burr Rabbit and of course the ultra-hot Mistie) and am fixing to launch "Prototype Platinum", a record label devoted to hard, raw and kickin' tunes.

Who inspires you musically and why?
Locally, Red Eye and Kai are seriously geniuses in their own time. Both are distinctly different, but both are so blatant with their style it's amazing. From their track selection to their mixing style, you know when either one of them are on the decks. Kai and Red Eye both have records as well as a few sick mixes out there.

On a national level a lot of people... Everywhere from Todd Terry to the Tidy Boys to people like Charles Feelgood and Dave Aude. Same deal as before; Each of them is doing something totally different. They have their own unique style. When they hit the decks, you know it's them. They don't sit around trying to sound like everyone else. They are doing their own thing, their own way, with their own style all over it! I love that! Originality and creativity are top notch priorities in my book.

How much have you changed musically since you started?
Very much. I started with speed garage. They don't make that anymore. Moved to hard house, and now incorporate a lot of techy business into the harder tougher beats. I'm very into anything hard and driving. Very prone to records that can be cut to pieces. Chick vocals get me every time as well.

Name two of your favorite tracks.
OD404 -D-Funked
Hard, driving, got a female vocal over it. It was made like 3 years ago, but is still ahead of the game.

Cortina - Music Is Moving (Champion Burns RMX)
Some of the tightest production ever. Solid kick, driving bass line, a vocal that rips on any sound system. Dope, dope, dope. Both still give me goose bumps.

What do you think of the current state of the Dallas Scene?
Dallas goes through cycles. It will totally kick for a few years, and then downsize a little bit. Then come back even stronger and then downsize a little bit. It's been doing that for as long as I've been going out, and my elders tell me the same thing.

I don't think either is better than the other, just different. I think that right now were in the middle of the downsize. Probably about a year and a half things will kick a lot harder than ever. I am extremely thankful that we got to be a part of everything with the Prototype events… Time to hit the clubs.

Do you want to thank anyone?
Major big ups to the people that go out just to hear good music and dance. That's what it's about.

Do you have anything else to add?
I think your website kicks butt. Boston terriers are the coolest dogs on the face of the planet. Feta cheese rocks. New Order and Sonic Youth are the best bands ever. Hi mom. Oi!
