How did you get started ?
When I first started going to parties back in 1990, unfortunately I didn't live here so I had to drive a couple of hours both ways every weekend. But it was worth it, I used to sneak into Aqua lounge with a couple of friends to listen to Rob Vaughn and A1 play.

That's where I met one of my best friends who is a DJ named Mark Foster. Back then he used to make mix tapes with a belt driven turntable and a 5 disk CD changer I still cant figure how he did it and in 94 I decided that's what I wanted to do with my life, I wanted to give back to the scene the knowledge that I had accumulated.

I wanted to do something a little different, something no one has seen so I started mixing on pitch controlled CD players. Me and Mark started putting out demos but when people found out we played CDs they didn't want anything to do with us. I fought the system long enough and started playing records, now I play both.

I really feel very lucky I've been friends with a really good group of people over the years. I can't possibly name them all. I've had so much help and support from everybody.

Who inspires you musically and why?
Cabaret Voltaire - Because I've never heard anything like them, they took experimental music to a whole new realm.
Eat Static - They've been pioneers for over 30 years and even today they have never been better.
Green Nuns of the Revolution - Because they're some of the most incredible trance producers to ever grace the face of the planet.
Albert Martinez - can't nobody touch him.
Mark Foster - Ditto. In my opinion, one of the best.
Louis (Paps) Armstrong - for being the first person to call other people "Cats."
Buddy Boldon - the first Jazz trumpet player, he drove himself insane with the music he played. Now thats inspiring.
Simon Posford - one of the greatest composers of our generation.

How much have you changed musically since you started?
Over the last 7 or 8 years I have changed more drastically than I ever thought I would. It's constantly changing every day depending on my mood I suppose. Everything from down tempo, dub, house, breaks, psytrance and especially GOA.

Name two of your favorite Tracks.
-The reality of Nature by Young American Primitive
-Do Androids dream of electronic sheep by Growling Mad Scientists

What do you think of the current state of the Dallas Scene?
Now that's a touchy subject. I will tell you this much, I've seen it at the best and it's worst. It's definitely not like it used to be, everything is so out in the open. It's not even remotely underground anymore. But I think it's coming back around again. Believe me it's suffered for a long time.

When is your next gig?

  • Every Sunday at Sandbar I'll be playing house with Mark Foster, Demarkus and Wayne.
  • May 19th myself and Aeon (my Astral Tribe partner in crime from Universal Mind) will be performing a 2x4 set in Greenville again at Homebar on May 25th.
  • I'll be playing another Bass & BBQ on May 26th, 2001
  • I'll be at Massiv, and I'm playing Fusion festival in San Francisco this summer.
