September Profile:DJ Kynd
Crew: Collective Harmoniks |
How did you get started ?
Well I started to buy records because I couldn't get the music on CD. Then it got to where I started buying what I had on CD, on vinyl. Four crates later a friend sold me some decks. They weren't the shit but they would play two records at the same time. That's all I cared about at first. It was bad for the first couple of months. I had no one to tell me what was going on. I stopped at nothing to learn. Six years later here I am.
Who inspires you musically and why?
Others that inspire me are Sasha and Digweed with the renaissance triple CD set that they put out late 1995. Good Mixing.
Well my inspiring house switch was an old friend (Mickey, who went by Lovefield). But in general a tape called "killer techno". It was old high-energy techno.
How much have you changed musically since you started?
Well I bought breaks first. The first records I beatmatched was house. I havent stopped buying it since. But you name any genre of electronic music and I have at least a crate of all except any type of hardcore and gabber.
Name two of your favorite Tracks.
Dano & Halo - Drivbomb - Redmelon
Hipp-E - Down on Me - Doubledown
What do you think of the current state of the Dallas Scene?
I think it should be more underground. And another thing, why does 1/4th of the people dance and 3/4th stand and talk? If thats all you came for, go somewhere where you don't have to pay to get in.
When is your next gig?
Wednesdays at the Kage
Thursdays at the Sandbar.
09.15.01 - Sweet Monkeys Genesis @ Homebar
