When and how did Iron Box music come about and why??
Bernhard (Brian Aneurysm): The idea of having my own label was sort of put into my head by my dad, who believes, "If you want to do it right, do it yourself." By talking to Eric and generally wanting to put out my music, I just got tired of waiting for labels to pick my music up, so I just went ahead and did it. The overall process started in November, but the first record wasn't released until January 2002. Eric (Maetrik / Eric Entity) gave me a bunch of helpful advice, since he has gone through these things before and has been involved in tech house/techno for several years. The hardest part for me was getting all the information together, and figuring out how much what costs. After that was established, the only big worry you have is making your money back.
What do you want to accomplish with Iron Box Music?
Bernhard: I just want to release good music, promote myself and other talented artists and have a good time doing it. To me, Iron Box is breeding ground for music that I enjoy. Though it can be a hassle, it still is lots of fun! If everything goes well, maybe I can help educate Dallas in techno and tech-house. Because it's cool music that not enough people in DFW knows about. But whether that's going to happen, I don't know yet.
Can you tell us a little bit about the Iron Box artists?
Maetrik (Eric Estornel):
· Minimal, deep techno and house. Always moving, but never sacrificing meaning.
Brian Aneurysm (Bernhard Pucher):
· Funky, minimal, deep techno and tech-house; along the lines of Neil White and Dub Taylor.
· Upcoming release on Iron Box in July
· Originally from Vienna, Austria, Brian moved to DFW in late 1997. In 2000, Brian formed the AI Collective with Stefan Anion to promote local Live PAs. Also in 2000, Brian discovered techno as a permanent music style, and by 2001 Brian was actively producing it as well. Then in late 2001 with the help of Eric Entity, Brian formed Iron Box Music and released records successfully since.
