How did you get started?
We set out for the metroplex underground scene and started promoting the
name Disco Agents - playing smaller events, throwing parties ourselves
(Hallelujah w/ Paul Johnson) and setting the groundwork for our own
material.
Our first foray into music making (Disco Agents style) brought
DFW, "Perfekt Disko Trak" in October 1999. We feel that this track really
set us apart from the pack, and let everyone know that we meant
business! All our grunt music-making work finally paid huge dividends
when we were approached by SMIRNOFF VODKA to produce a double CD for
their new line of vodka flavors. The compilation took a lot out of us but
we made the deadline and now hear great things about it from Dallas to
St. Louis to all points in between. You can hear these CDs at our
website listed above.
We got together in August 1999. There wasn't too much of our sound around then, so we decided to team up. It was a great fit because of our similar tastes in music ranging from pop, underground & jazz.
Who inspires you musically and why?
We love Basement Jaxx because they push the musical envelope to the
extreme; And come away with some of the more breathtaking tracks ever
heard, be it something garage and bangin' or one of their luscious
downtempo ventures. Daft Punk seems to use a more basic formula, yet
they attain the same music mastery as their last full length CD,
Discovery, could attest. A simply perfect CD. The french make sexier
records than anyone... Period. Gotta love duos, eh?!
How much have you changed musically since you started?
Name two or more of your favorite tracks.
What do you think of the current state of the Dallas Scene?
When is your next gig?
Do you want to thank anyone?
Do you have anything else to add?
Our inspiration comes from Daft Punk, Basement Jaxx & the French house guys to the Neptunes, hip-hop & pop muzik.
Oh, we've gotten much harder since the beginning. Playing a ton of shows will show that the more energetic you are, the more the crowd responds! Our sound captures the banging-sexier side of house more than anyone else.
"Save Our Souls"- Bob Sinclair
"Funk-o-Tron"- Robbie Rivera
"Echo Vibes"- Outfunk
"Stay Past Midnight"- Disco Agents
"Star Island"- Disco Agents
I think that it has died down a bit in the last 6 months (huge events at least). There are a lot more weeklies going on which gives a lot lesser known talent a chance to show their wears.
The producers in DFW seems to be on the verge of breaking out everywhere with The Thin Men, Maetrik, Demarkus, the Scientia Crew as well as ourselves. That doesn't count a slew of others
who are doing great stuff that just hasn't gotten out there yet. That is why the CD we're throwing together with local producers is so important - to let the massive know that we can do it too!
May 25th in Austin for 8-Bit @ Asylum
Sure would- we'd like to express our most sincere thanks to Natalie Disco for all of her hard work in promoting two really, really unnerving guys. It ain't easy, let me tell ya'. Also shouts to Kevin Bolin, Tech*Sun, Galactic (old & new), Covert-Ops, Chinese Records, Merritt, Jeremy Word & Kai.
Keep up the good work all you producers- somewhere, somehow, someway someone will dig your muzik. "Vive Le France!"
