How and when did you get started?
I started spinning in 2000, but fell in love with drum and bass in 1997. It was Roni Size's "New Forms" album that did it for me... I always liked techno such as The Prodigy (especially the track "Voodoo People") and Chemical Brothers, I heard the intro beat on the track "Railing", and that's what did it for me. I was like "WOW that is THE perfect 'techno' beat!!! Where can I find more?!?!!" Soon after, a friend introduced me to the sound of Goldie's "Inner City Life" and Adam F's "Circles". Then a man named Dieselboy came out with a mix CD called "97 Octane." That CD made me feel like I had to be involved with this music somehow.

About a year later, I heard that Dieselboy was coming to town with this artist named Technical Itch. Since I had no real idea of what electronic music was about, I didn't go. I went to one rave my sophomore year of high school, but I was into Deftones, Beastie Boys and 311 at the time - not really much electronic… I didn't make it to my first real party till 1998 or so at the legendary Decibel. It was then that I got my first taste of what a DJ can do to a crowd. After hearing local DJ's like Katalyst, Squirt, and Freedom, and bigger names Dara, Reid Speed, and Freaky Flow play there, I really wanted to do that, so I started buying records at the end of 1999, soon after, I finally got my decks!

I started getting gigs soon after the start of 2000. In July of 2001, Jessika and Eric with Gremlin Productions asked me to start playing their parties, and gave me the chance to open up for Pish Posh aka DJ Wally at the Homebar. That set was a landmark set for me for many reasons, it was the first time I got to "open up" for a headliner, the first time I got a chance to spin in front of Dallas properly, and it was the first time I got to spin w/MC Pibb! (If you're lucky, you got a copy of that live mix) I owe a lot to him, he's believed in me since then, and hasn't stopped! Together, we've played at tons of parties throughout the region over the past two years.

Now, I'm the drum and bass buyer for Tech*Sun Records! This is really cool… I cannot thank Matt Pruitt (4-Peace) and Wes Fisher for getting me to do this! It has helped me out in so many ways; I simply can't say enough good things about it. I have met many people at that store, and it has opened many windows for me. Hit us up at 817.649.9661, I'm usually there on Mondays, so if you are ever looking for that one drum and bass record that isn't out of print yet, give us a ring, and we will do our best to help you out!
