What exactly does Dykast represent and how did you come up with the name?
Dykast represents the fusion of several complimentary but very distinct visions of what the future of Dnb is and can be. We took 4 individuals, stripped them of their identity and forced them to write under one name to create a sound of a caliber higher than any one individual could accomplish alone. The name Dykast was created by founding members Seneca and Chris Riehl over a discussion about what the tunes should be listed as while neither one wanted to have higher or lower name placement.
How did "Dykast" come about and why?
Dykast started as a side project for Seneca (at the time called Matrik) and Chris Riehl (Carbon-Fourteen). Matrik and C-14's tunes, originally labeled as Dykast back in 99, were basically shelved because of higher quality individual works being produced solo by both. Dj Etech (Erich Glogau) and C-14 originally produced all sorts of horrible music together as a series of after class hangout sessions under the name Inverse Rhythm (we spelled it Rythym, cause we suck). Eventually, however, Erich Glogau (Etech) began working with C-14's solo projects in Dnb and eventually the idea of a larger more complete Dnb group was formed.

Then Erich contacted Dj Phooka, who had spun breaks with Erich back in 96 @ the Rehab Lounge, about checking out the stuff C-14 and he were doing. He asked him if he was interested in possibly forming a group between all 4 of us called Dykast producing and spinning Dnb tunes. Phooka (Chris Clayborne) came by the makeshift studio soon afterward and saw what was going on, he liked what he heard and quickly agreed to play out the C-14 tunes and began working on tunes with C-14 and Etech. The first tune completed by Dykast as a group of more than just the 2 original members (c-14 and diagnostics) was called CYPHER, a dark amen tune composed by Phooka, C-14, and Etech (when we were all drunk). As a matter of fact we recall that in the middle of producing the tune the power went out in C-14's apartment and he wasn't sure if he forgot to pay the bill or if it was just a freak black out, luckily it was just a black out. Unfortunately, however the unsaved final version of the song was forever lost…
Later tunes incorporating all 4 members began rolling out and we began turning a few heads locally. Adrian (DJ Katalyst) approached us about signing a few of our early tunes to his then still forming Scientia Label. A close bond was forged between the Dykast crew and the Scientia family as we ourselves were getting our own label named Inverse Rhythm off the ground. And that's how it all started, after that its all drama... (ad nauseum)
