A new jack who has definitely got that swing, Donny Benavidez aka Trek has quickly become a fixture on the Dallas dnb scene. From the spark of witnessing Berlin's massive Love Parade in person, he came back to Dallas with a vigor to quickly learn the art of the blend for himself a few years ago and his muscial tastes quickly leaned him towards a drum and bass approach.
Focusing most notably on the abstract, leftfield sounds of dnb, he and his cohort Jeff Spock ventured to bring these sounds to Dallas parties under the Terminal Entertainment team and he later embedded himself further with Dallas dnb by being part of the much respected Covert Ops street team and most recently those out there cats, the Dirty Alien Project.
Soon, having the necessary credentials of an Edgeclub mix under his belt and a current role playing in the longest running Dallas dnb drunkfest on Tuesday nights otherwise known as Battletech, he has set his sights even further - to the art of production and a move to Europe.
With the help of a host of wickedly talented MC's such as Astro (the go to guy to lay flow on a track across any genre of electronic beat), as well as other singers and producers which Dallas claims home to - he hopes to mine this city for gold and 
hopefully help establish his newly formed Poor Vida Productions before heading across the pond to the land of no sun and bad teeth, London U.K.
Coupled with a muscial approach of blending Rnb, Hip Hop, or whatevers quality, together we should wish him well in his travels and to bringing a name for himself and the city of Dallas which brought him up. Like the words of Public Enemy who said it best -- "London, England consider yourself warned."
What are your goals in leaving for London and what would you like to accomplish?
I'm leaving for London because I just feel like it's where I need to go right now. I hope to do some serious networking and develop personally and musically. I just started my record label, Poor Vida Productions, so I have a lot of ground work to do. The talent we have right in our backyard is phenomenal, I want to do what I can to promote the Dallas sound. I want to have fun and experience life.
Tell me about your current hop hop/rnb project including who's involved and your approach to the music.
We're currently recording for the first release on Poor Vida. I come from a big hip hop background, and the way everything just started coming together, I just felt that my first release should be hip hop. I'm handling the production end, the MC's consist of Enferno, Astro, Eno, Lyric C, and Patrick Miller as well as singer Aaron B. We have Lou Medina @ Tailor Made engineering the album. When I write a beat, I just go with the flow. If I'm not feelin it, I'll start something new, just put it away for a rainy day. Part of the fun is starting something, and then waiting to see where it goes. After I feel like the track is ready I'll give it to a vocal artist and let them develop their ideas, their story, and tell it how they want it told.
