You are a DJ as well as a good promoter, so do you have any aspirations for music production as well?
Believe it or not, I am in the studio most of my free time. I am still very new to production, but I am slowly but surely creating my own unique grooves. It really helps when you have so many professionals willing to help and
take you under their wing. Southern hospitality at its finest.
What are some of your upcoming goals for the coming year and what can we look forward to?
If you have been following Oscuro since its inception in 2004 you have noticed that our shows are happening a lot more frequently now, that is because of the amazing response we have been getting and the pure joy I get out of throwing them. So, you can expect bigger and better shows with more local support and rarer headliners. As opposed to bringing the tried and true headliners, we decided to take a fresh approach and give Dallas new spin on what they're used to. We really appreciate all of the love we've gotten, because we are nothing without our loyal supporters.
Any thanks or shout outs you¹d like to give? Elian Gonzalez, perhaps?
Yes, I would like to thank my Mother first and foremost, for all of her support in the past 6 years. She never questioned me when I purchased my first set of Technics and never complained about the floor shaking when I first started practicing. I would also like to thank all of our loyal Oscuro supporters and fans, along with Nicole D. of Unisca Ent. for accepting me at such a young age and showing me the inner workings of club promotions. Also, JV (Jason Vasilas) for being a really positive friend and for sharing your priceless knowledge with me. Jordan Daniel & Stefan Anion for being really cool with me back when BPM was open and for being really great mentors. Also, Julie Campbell for taking the chance with a "young kid" and letting me have full creative control with my parties, you and the Minc staff are one of the main reasons I still do this stuff. Lastly, Andy Rubalcaba & Gary Lopez (you guys are one of the main reasons Oscuro is where it is today, thank you!), Kelle Marie (You rock chicka), Clint (Puppetmaster blue), Alejandra for your super positive vibes, Jose (Fresco) for all of your help, Richard Thomas, DJ Merritt for letting me rock Edgeclub twice, Willie Trimmer for the early Spike residency,Kean, Elian Gonzales, Timmers, Paige, The Lek Brothers, Seth Cox, Greg, Jake, Alex, Eric S., anyone who has ever attended an Oscuro show and of course you Juan.
