Name of some of the favorite people you have enjoyed opening for?
As far as the Djs who I enjoyed opening for this year I can narrow it down to 3:
1. Dave Seaman - Hands down one of the best Djs in the world. He took
the energy that was in the room and was able to elevate it an
explosive level.
2. Above & Beyond - They stepped up and were able to do their own
thing without missing a beat. No dramatic intro. No special opening
instructions. They just knocked it out of the park.
3. Jeremy Word - I've opened for him so many times that I feel I can
put together a solid set to work best with him and his style, rather
than the 2nd headliner. That familiarity makes figuring out how to
play easier which also makes it more enjoyable.
I feel it is also worth mentioning DJ Irene's crowd. Rather than
focusing on the age and musical knowledge of the crowd, I focus on
their energy and enthusiasm. This allows for a group of kids who
aren't normally exposed to certain sounds a chance to hear what else
is out there for them. Exposure is a big problem in this city so I
will not think twice about exploiting that opportunity.
Tell me about Bad Brother Inc and your podcast.
Bad Brother Inc is a relatively new project set up by my long time
friends and creative partners Mr. Cooley and Mike X. It's a way for
all three of us to come up with ideas for new club night concepts,
problem solve on areas we feel could use a little work, and to put a
professional stamp on what is otherwise three guys who want to
maximize their enjoyment for going to dark clubs and listening to loud
music while drinking large quantities of alcohol.
The podcast was one of the concepts BBI has come up with and
implemented to very exciting results. Since radio support for club
music is non existent here, we decided to put together a weekly pod
cast to showcase some of the songs you would hear when we play out. We
also throw in some songs that you might not hear at all but we feel
represent quality dance floor tunes. Since this is a weekly pod cast,
it is a challenge for me to put together a mix that has a good balance
of hits and newer genres/styles. But I look forward to it every week
and the response has been extremely positive.
Any Thanks?
Since my career as a DJ has been entirely dependant on the good graces
of others, I have racked up an extremely LARGE group of friends and
colleagues whom I owe not only thanks but drinks, favors, smokes,
rides, money, lap dances, monkeys, food, slaps on the head, kicks in
the balls, Cds, vinyl, a hammock, nude pics, car washes, left arms,
right legs, windshield wiper fluid, myspace pic love... etc.
The list is too long for this profile. Rest assured, I will get to all
of them personally ASAP.
