1. What makes you different from other DJs?
Well I listen to, and buy lots of different music. I don't feel like
I've pigeon-holed myself into one sound. Instead I like to cover
numerous sounds/genres. It allows me to have a lot more freedom behind
the decks, and also allows me to play different venues that maybe I
wouldn't get to play if only pushing one sound.
2. How would you describe your sound?
I have always been into a deep sound. I like tracks that have feeling,
but can still make you move. I have been buying a ton of deep house
lately. Artists like Milton Jackson, and Manuel Tur are some of my
favs in that category. I still buy lots of techno, minimal, and tech
house as well. Hell I have even scooped up some house, and nu disco as
of late. I like it all, and if I would have to describe my sound, I
would say deep, and chuggy, techy, and bumpin'.
3. Would you say Dallas has changed at all say in the last 5 years?
I would have to say yes. It used to be you either play House or DnB or
get the fuck out. Which in my opinion caused a bunch of people within
the scene to be really stand-off-ish. Now you have people of all walks
supporting a lot of different things. It just seems like artists, and
supporters realize more that we are all doing the same things, and we
all represent one city. I feel like there is a lot more respect in
this community then there has been since I have been in it. It's
plurrific to be a part of. lol
4. Any originals works coming?
Jayson Gold and I have made some tracks, but we still need some more
work. I don't think they sound bad for our first attempts. We just
need to work a little harder at it. I have also done some work with
AllenMD who will have his first release on Sean Anderson's Harmonious
Discord label here in the near future. Hopefully sooner rather than
later I will have my first track out as well.
5. Any Thanks?
My mother who has always supported me, and dances her ass off anytime
she comes to see me play. Love her to death! Im gonna try to not
forget anybody but here it goes…Jayson Gold my long time friend, and
partner in musical crime, One FM who has also been a long time friend,
and also hooked me up w/ my first ever weekly, Aaron Turner aka Scott
Phrenetik, I have been playing records w/ this dude for 9 years, and
he is one of the most humble dudes I know, AllenMD, Matias(Teksuprt)
and Paige, Littlz, Monarch and Pickle, Shift! Crew, Mike Detloff and
the London Nights crew, Bang! and ESP, The Battletech crew (System,
Phooka, Big Ballin' Collin), Lunar Tunes (JV and Eric Schlowinski),
Sean Anderson and Patchen, BradH, Zach, Frankie, Dorian, Mali,
Jenn-Uh, Roos and Amy, Heather, Aaron Hensley, Chaser, Cloud 9, Jeremy
Word, Redeye, Willie Trimmer and MJ from EDEN, Minc (Julie, Swanny,
Tre-love you guys!) Zubar, and back to Minc, Brandon and Bradley, and
last, but certainly not least Juandingo and Kelle Marie. I am glad I
know ya'll, and consider both of you to be really good friends. Sorry
if I forgot anyone. Thanks to everyone who supports this scene, and
keeps it going. I have nothing but love for all of you.
