Personally, I'm just not the biggest fan of how Reason works as a whole. I absolutely hate the samplers. I hate the fact that to bring in audio you have to use recycle to splice it up first. I think the sequencer works more like a toy than a sequencer. I don't feel that you can get the audio 100% where you want it to fall in their sequencer. Also like you said, you can't really edit it at all. When I worked a lot in Reason, I found myself having to work around the software a lot instead of it being able to do what I needed it to. Kinda like trying to get a square through a round hole sometimes.
Having said that, there are also things that I love. I think both the Dr. Rex as well as the drum machine kick anus. You get a lot of good sounds and you can get refills all over the place. I'm still learning to get synths to do what I want them to do in general, so I also won't hate there.
I learned a lot and would recommend it to someone new to production any day. I've still got SO far to go, but I was ready for a better sequencer pretty quick.
