For one, energy is NOT a problem. Through the use of breeder nuclear reactors (of which I believe at least a few exist), we have enough uranium-235, uranium-238 and plutonium stockpiles to power the entire planet for 10 billion years.. longer than we will be around I think. The entire power crisis issue revolves around fossil fuels which we honestly should not be using anymore anyway. Not when we have the technology to employ safe, clean, nuclear power and hydrogen power already.
And as far as the climate change.. well we all have seen the weather.. how often are weathermen right on? |
Nuclear (fission) power, clean? Eh? I don't think so. Fusion, yes (though it still has environmental repercussions as it heats the water in the surrounding area).
No, energy may not be the problem, pollution certainly IS a problem - the millions of tonnes of pollution produced every year by our factories, chemical plants, motor vehicles, the list goes on, from all over the world. The cutting down of the rain forests, the lungs of the earth, and depletion of particular animal and fish stocks in a short sighted pursuit of profit and not a long term view of sustainability.
Environment wars, I can't wait
