I have seen people reference this article many times and from personal experience, I disagree with it completely. The attack on the kick always sounds very dead on low quality files. It's like the kick is kind of floating around in dead space instead of crisply driving in and out.

It is also a huge issue with me personally that a dj would play out and get paid to play someone elses music and not be willing to pay for it. I know the psytrance scene in particular is riddled with mp3 dj's, and the labels are finally picking themselves up out of the mp3 rut that has lasted many years. I'm sure as other genres move to cds, the same thing is happening.

Also, as far as taking an mp3 and working on it in Cubase, anything lost in compression cannot be recovered.

Chester: Yeah, and I keep cereal in my pocket to feed em...
Sifl: OK, thanks Chester...
Chester: Alright, just keep this all under wraps ok...
