Somebody should write an anti-virus virus

A year ago, I remember having a conversation with some other developers about how one could write the ultimate virus, how it could use a distributed computing model to learn and propogate itself to various machines/ platforms, compile itself using various compilers/ assemblers and anytime it hit a road block, it would just scour the web for "torrent" files left behind from other worms to see if there is a solution. New instruction files can be introduced to the internet that can be later picked up by worms, etc, etc, etc...

So, I've been thinking, If it were to work, what good could come out of it?
Nobody likes worms and virii

All ethics aside, I think it would be cool if someone were to introduce a virus whose sole purpose is to root out other virii, malware, etc.

have it infect and spread, but lay dormant until another virus steps onto it's turf.

You couldn't claim credit for it, but it would be bad ass...

Just throwing it out there in case any of you nerds want to pick up and run with the idea...
