Later, he told some folks it was because we (as in the promoters from both cities) never paid a deposit... But the written agreement was for us to purchase his plane ticket only, then pay him X amount when he got here. Other times, he was quoted as saying that the Houston promoters who were supposed to drive him up for his Dallas show "seemed shady."
So no matter what he claims his reasons were for not boarding that plane, he had a contract to play that we had met the demands of, and we had purchased a ticket for him to board a plane come play a show... He didn't, and then tried to smear our faces with shit.
That makes him the turd in my book.
A friend from San Fran (Savak) flew in last minute to play Snares' spot on the bill, and BANKED between getting paid what Funk would have been paid PLUS selling a metric asston of merch. It added up to several hundred AFTER the expense of buying his own last minute ticket here.
I feel sorry for the kids that had driven out from Atlanta to see his show, though. We put out announcements as soon as we knew what was going on, but the Atlanta kids had already left for Dallas by the time we discovered Funk was not coming. |
not surprising. Otto is a real ass munch as well. His music is gimicky bullshit. I met him in Detroit when he played with Richard Devine and Modeselektor and "turd" is a great word to describe him and his music. Shit, didn't he even make a track with nothin but farts? pleeeeeese. Speaker fisting, yay! Now Richard D and Modeselektor on the other hand....fukin rawked. NO COMPARISON. Richard came out after Otto's bullshit and owned his ass with a 303 and a 909. Don't be fooled by the noise, there's nothing special about it. They should put ATX local Nautilus (planet-mu) on the bill, he's good people and actually has musical talent.
