I know that the RIAA has been around since the 50's but they didnt give two shits about individual fire sharing before Metallica whipped up a storm over Napster. Before that time the RIAA focused on large scale piracy rings that were selling stolen music for profit. Metallica is responsible for unleashing them on the fan base that has snowballed into the evil RIAA that exists today.
