The whole point of that article is that for the first time all those people who dont watch the news can no longer deny that Rome is in trouble. When we see entire regions of the country where thousands of people are trying to decide it they can afford heat or medicine or gas to get to work this winter, it takes a little more than denial to make the problem go away.
