B'more has always been (at least to me) cheese-filled blends. Some of the original tracks (like DJ Technics "Mr. Postman", any old Rod Lee) were Motown jams cut up over the "Sing, Sing" break.
Very few producers are making original B'more tracks (Blaqstarr, new Technics, etc.) anymore. Most new b'more still incorporates the "Sing, Sing" break with keys or horns over it instead of Lil' Jon snippets/ cheesy song samples.
Now, if you're talking about go-go, that's a different story.
