Is the garbage disposal not running or is it just clogged up?
At my old apartment I ended up taking apart my garbage disposal because it was all clogged up with eggshells. At my parents house they got a souped up disposal unit that could suck down anything, but apparently eggshells was a bit too much for the one at the crib.
It was a freaking mess, but worked like a charm afterwards.
