Mark Knight in Houston

I didn't take my camera, so no awesome pics... sorry.

TonyN and myself went down to Houston on Friday afternoon... went to see Mark Knight @ Rich's... then immediately came home. Pretty exhausting, but well worth it.

Tony should be posting some video soon.

Ran into Matt Schwab down there

Rich's is a decent place. Similar to a Lizard Lounge type atmosphere, and pretty much the same type of crowd, although a tad older... and less glowsticks. Lots of young girls together, and lots of older guys. Second floor view really sucks and getting bottle service there would be retarded. Drinks were well priced: $4 house wells; $8 premium wells. (No idea on beer.) Pretty quick bar service and decent pours. Sound system is comparable to the LL, but with less bass. We arrived at 11pm or so and getting in was a breeze. Parking down the street is $10.

It was never really that packed. Ample room to walk onto the dancefloor. Possibly the same amount of people if you brought Mark Knight to the LL on a Saturday. I expected more from Houston!

Opening DJ was Michael Myers from Philadelphia. Pretty talented guy technique wise, but I felt like his set wasn't fully thought out. Didn't really dig his track selection 100%... definitely some cheese thrown in, and he was banging it out. I felt bored at times. The crowd seemed to love it, though. (Mark Knight killed the track to begin.)

Mark Knight: Awesome, awesome experience. They announced it was his birthday... dunno if it was true or not... but he was drinking like a motherfucker. I think he ran to the bathroom 4 times during his set. He came on at 1am (I think)...We didn't stay to the very end (we left at 3am so he might have played later). But from what we experienced was fantastic. I would love to see him come through Dallas at some point. Mark was very energetic and acting a fool, sometimes dancing around, taking time to shake hands with people, and still pulled off a flawless set. Tony can probably name a better set list than I can, so I'll leave that to him and his video.

Nice people, nice drinks, excellent set = Glad I made the trip....
