His campaign was over. Get it right! | Yeah, any success he might have enjoyed right after picking Palin was probably because no one knew how chuck full of fail she was. Moderate conservatives gave McCain the GOP nomination. His problem was that despite the VP nod being given to Palin the far right didn't trust him and in picking Palin he alienated the moderates.
