I actually did a paper during the few classes of college I attended about the Health Insurance industry as well. I don't remember all the exact numbers now, but basically it's a standard procedure to do extra surgeries on terminally ill patients (like removing the appendix of a terminal cancer patient) IF that patient has health insurance. People without insurance are something like 10 times more likely to die in hospital emergency rooms. The Health Insurance industry is one of the biggest in the states.
So yeah.. I was all about it when Clinton wanted to socialize Health Care, but unfortunately that never ended up happening.
