This rumor has been floating around all day. There are also rumors saying that McCain already said no to offer, though he did state earlier this week that he'd consider it. Anyway, that certainly would be interesting. Kerry would win just on the novelty factor. I think if there's any merit to it at all, it's a good illustration of how Bush has polarized moderates and even some conservatives.

I like McCain a lot, but I'm not sure even he would make me happy about voting for Kerry.

What's the big problem with Kerry? Sorry I don't pay too close attention since I'm not able to vote.

From what I've read and heard I like McCain as well.

Kerry is a taller, better spoken version of Bush from a different part of the country. Virtually all of his policy positions, if he will ever lock down exactly what his positions are, are only rhetorically different from Bush's.

Hardly. With Kerry in office, we will not implement the most self-centered and arrogant foreign policy in history, we won't be funneling tax money to churches, and we won't be trying to abuse our Constitution to discriminate against gays. Call him a Washington insider, a corporate sellout, or an elitest, but for God's sake, don't call him Bush.

Bullshit. If you wade through his murky attempts to convolude his positions, you'll find he supports the exact same foreign policy. He might change up the rhetoric behind it, but he voted for the war (WMDs or not, that's really irrelevant) and claimed to maintain the preemption policy.

Alright, fair enough here. I'll give you a difference on religious zeal.

Which has a bit of truth to it. But Bush-lite is better than Bush in many respect. McCain and Kerry are both veterans on the Hill and all that Washington experience together in charge would spell bad things, but then Bush had no experience in Washington and he and mr. Rove have politicked worse than any other regime in this country I can remember.

Look at Clinton's record:

Aggression in Somalia, Sudan, Kosovo, and Iraq.

Massively subsidized big industry.

Rolled back Welfare.

Backed NAFTA.

And those are just the things that come to mind at the moment.

I know there's a lot of talk about him taking on the New Mexico governor, I'm not so sure that would improve my position on his candidacy. I realize that would help him fight Bush on the Latino vote, but I really don't think Kerry will take a position on immigration that will be favorable to them.

I really think his best bet would be to take on Edwards and put together two large existing constituencies.
