| Some good stuff going down on Plum Island http://www.nypress.com/17/11/news&columns/feature.cfm "Located just two miles off the tip of Long Island and six miles from the Connecticut coastline, Plum Island is home to a Bio-Safety Level 4 (BSL-4) research facility... Plum Island is specifically engaged in the study of zoonotic diseases. Zoonotic diseases are diseases that can be transmitted from animals to humans, like West Nile, like Lyme disease. Like Ebola... During the fifth month of the strike, a three-hour power outage renewed public interest in the island... Without power, the air filtration systems are inoperable. Without power, decontamination procedures break down. Without power, the seals in the pressurized airlock doors start to deflate. According to one report, workers were desperately sealing the doors with duct tape... The only reason the incident went public at all was that one of the replacement workers basically flipped a gasket and called Hillary Clinton's office, spilling the beans on the power failure to one of her staffers. The worker stated that, 'The reason I am coming forward is because what I have seen at the center is really out of hand and something needs to be done about it.'" |

That is the most fucked up thing I've ever read... As I am against bioweaponry research, I applaud that research into dangerous diseases and toxins is being done to help safegaurd the welfare of humanity, but this of course comes at a risk. But, this is also a rare exception where I am all about having military researchers involved on these projects than union laborers... Cause these research labs have to have ZERO TOLERANCE for Human Error. One person leaving with a contagion every 20 years is bad enough and can endanger lives, but neglecting the lab for 5 months is WITHOUT A DOUBT, SERIOUSLY and PURPOSELY Endangering the lives of many Americans. * Has Mental Image of every plague movie ever made from The Stand to 28 days later *   Way To Go Union Laborers!

5 months ago the Gov. should have immediately terminated them all, no questions asked, and replaced them with trained military personnel.

yikes. Nelson Demille (the guy who wrote the generals daughter before it became a movie) also wrote a book about this. pretty crazy, scary stuff.

Plum Isalnd was an animal disease research center until it was turned over ti the department of homeland security. I could find no info saying it was turned into a level 4 bio-safety research lab. The only level 4 labs that I know are the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta, and the United States Army Research Innstitue of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) in Ft. Detrick, Maryland.
