Georgia outlaws female genital piercing

Seems the State of Georgia has outlawed female genital piercings in a bid to stop genital mutilation on females. While that cause is noble, they added an amendment to the bill that would make voluntary female genital piercing illegal and punishable with up to 20 years in prison.

I agree that the law is absurd...but...just because some hillbillys decided to protect Bobbi Sue's holiest of holies from herself doesn't mean that the sky is falling.



A sentence of 20 years for a voluntary physical modification is almost surely a violation of the 1st, quite likely the 4th, and nearly undeniably a violation of the 8th.

But, the only way it could ever get knocked out on constitutional grounds however is if some one is arrested for such a crime.

I'd leave South Florida, because you have Miami and the Keys there, and also the Everglades. Just cut out Central & North FL and ship that out.

No law like this is necessary to make it criminal to mutilate a woman's gentials against her will.

i think it might be neccessary simply for certain religions that practice female circumsion. generally religious practices have been exempt from some laws (not all! i know, but some).

they do this to girls at a young age (usually around 7 years old). however i have no idea how prevalent it is here in the u.s. i know its rampant in some countries in africa.

mayhem has a definition other than what most would expect - wasn't being presupmtuous at all - and cast no personal asprersions as to your vocabulary


Female circumcision is a very kind way to describe the practice. Thanksfully, I am unaware of it being practiced in the United States - but - I think it could very easily be determined to fit the defintion of criminal mayhem - even if part of a religious practice. (religious practices can be regulated by the state)
