Looking at all those buildings near the rail line, I can see why there might be lots of casualties.

yeah i am sure its pretty bad...i mean the trains were carrying explosives!

I hope the way that this news isn't coming out let's people over here appreciate the freedoms that we do have...and why we need to fight to protect them (points to FCC regulation)

There are N. Korean citizens right now..who still dont know whats up. They turn the news on...and the story is about celebrations for their wonderful leader and all the great things he has done. Meanwhile they may have friends and family that need help.

The blast destroyed or damaged thousands of homes and other buildings. U.N. officials estimate about 40 percent of Ryongchon was destroyed.

A Red Cross official said damage from the explosion was spread out within a radius of 4 kilometers (2.5 miles).

That's a 5 MILE EPICENTER!!! That is HUUUUUGE!!!

Trains can often be a mile long, if the all the cars on it were filled with fuel that might help explain it. That's still a massive explosion though.

The official Korean Central News Agency said in a report that the blast occurred "due to the electrical contact caused by carelessness during the shunting of wagons loaded with ammonium nitrate fertilizer and tank wagons."
