Interesting Poll of Iraqi Civilians

Here's the link:

http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/...oll/index.html

Here are the main points:

Most interviews were done between March 22 and April 9 -- before the latest flare-up of violence that brought some of the deadliest fighting since the end of major combat nearly a year ago.

Iraqi interviewers conducted face-to-face surveys with 3,444 adults in Arabic and Kurdish in respondents' homes. The poll was the first since the war to cover urban and rural areas throughout Iraq, representing about 93 percent of the population. It has a sampling error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.

- 47% said attacks against US forces could not be justified
- 52 % said attacks against US forces could be justified some or all of the time

- 33% said the war had done more good than harm
- 46% said the war had done more harm than good

- 43% said Iraq was better off because of the war
- 39% said Iraq was worse off because of the war

- 51% said they and their families were better off than before the war
- 25% said they and their families were worse off

- 54% said conditions for establishing peace had worsened in the 3 months prior
- 25% said conditions improved

- 92% said attacks against Iraqi police could not be justified

- 52% said ongoing military action by the US was justified
- 47% said it was not justified

- 57% said they want the US out immediately
- 36% want them to stay longer

- 44% gave Bush an unfavorable personal rating
- 11% gave Bush a somewhat unfavorable rating
- 24% gave Bush a favorable rating
- 80% gave Saddam an unfavorable rating

- 29% said US troops conducted themselves very badly
- 24% said they conducted themselves fairly well
- 10% said troops acted very well

- 71% said they view the US troops as occupiers
- 19% viewed them as liberators

There's more, but I'm tired of typing. Anyway, I found it interesting.

It seems rather contradictory. The war has done more harm than good, but their families are better off than they were before?

Interesting reading, opinion seems just as divided over there as it is here.

This pretty much backs up my argument that the media certainly makes it out to be much worse than it is.

They all hate us and want us out.

I'm not saying this War is right or Wrong.

IMO though, the media is definetely in the wrong.
