ONLY considering defense and the military (and its programs / actions), would you still vote for Bush, or would you vote for Kerry? In my personal opinion, I'd feel less bad about the situation in Iraq if a Vietnam Veteran w/ a 4 year POW record, several medals of accommodation, and a few Purple Hearts - rather than someone who thus far can only prove his teeth were in the National Guard at some time, with a VP that had "other priorities: when the Vietnam war was going on. |

I am impressed by Mr. Kerry's war service. It is everything he's done relating to the military and intelligence services since then that give me concern. And I am no war monger. Sometimes one must fight smaller wars to avoid bigger ones.

Kerry = someone who stood up and was counted. Bush = someone who hid and went AWOL and, even if he didn't go AWOL (pffft) at the very least pulled some strings to get some pushy hitch in the NG. No contest, Kerry. Except my vote don't count

Krash you'er biting into propaganda. GW didn't go to Viet Nam. He didn't go AWOL. The service records of the two are not hard to distinguish. Neither are their records in suppoirt of the military subsequent to the war in Viet Nam.

The accusers have the burden to prove the accusation - not the otherway around. I think it would be nearly imopssible for me to prove me work record from 15 years ago through documentation. So, I suspect records from 30 yrs ago afr harder to come by. I am unaware of any serious journalists picking up this story. It was a Michael Moore comment as I recall. Which pretty muich sums it up for me. Feel free to suggest his war service cannot match Kerry's - it cannot. But, it is more than a stretch to say he was AWOL and even greater to go to deserter as Moore did.

well, then, if you're sure he went AWOL and that that is a good basis to vote for Kerry - please do. As I said in other threads - the Viet Nam issues I find to be off point. In fact they are distracting us from the real issues. Both sides are guilty of this.
