![]() | Pictures of British foces abusing Iraqi's thought to be fake
Numerous independent and government sources have stated that they want the mirror to bring forward the sources of the photographs showing alleged abuses by QLR troops in Iraq. They state up to 20 inaccuracies and suspicious ommissions in the photo's published by the paper, including: Boots laced up wrong. Empty ammunition pouches. (too) clean weapons. No ID marks on the soldiers uniform. No ID mark on the weapons used. Prisoner wearing civillian clothing, he would / should of been stripped an issued an army jumpsuit (in fact, they questioned that the prisoner was wearing any clothing at all). Use of a hessian material as a head bag (it can be seen through). The government and the army have stated that an investigation is ongoing, but would like the Mirror to answer their doubts - this was a couple of days ago, they have failed to do so (adequately) so far. There are more but I can't remember them - this was published in today's Daily Express, I'll get a link at some point.

My favorite tabloid article was the one that came out years ago saying that Aliens were going to get Ross Perot into the whitehouse...

If this is true, what do you expect would happen to The Mirror?

However I think the british public will do most of the work for if the story cannot be corroborated I would fully expect its sales to drop through the floor as people cease buying the paper. Unfortunately, however, the Mirror was one of only a handful of papers that was openly anti-war before we invaded Iraq, they are the only paper to still be calling for evidence of the accusations that were levelled at Saddam prior to going in, for that I admire them. It's just a pity the goddamn Sun (aka the Scum) didn't print the story, I'd love for that particular rag to go down the pan

the people in the photos obviously didn't give a fuck about proper procedures or they wouldn't be shoving broom sticks in people's asses. the only legitimate thing i see in that list is lack of i.d.'s everything else is just attempts to undermine the validity of what the photos reveal.

The list I provided has been backed up by a steadily increasing number of analysts and soldiers, both retired and current service - I myself have served in the TA (our version of the National Guard) and completely agree with the points put forward above. When dealing with prisoners you do NOT go near them with a weapon and when you DO have your weapon, you don't go anywhere without extra ammo! I would suggest you also look at the link to the BBC I put up, where the sources of the pictures have been given the opportunity to reply to the doubts cast - they compeletely ignore a number of points. In saying all of that, if these pictures ARE false, I want the source of the hoax prosecuted - if they are not, I want the soldiers involved prosecuted. Either way, I want to know wtf these people thought they were doing.

I would point out that if soldiers are willing to go that far breaking protocol, their handling of their weapon/ammo etc. is probably just as poor in regard to proper policy.
