Is it just me, or does the ACLU seem to be adrift at sea with no sail? The only stories I see from them anymore are of them defending a midget's right to play in the NBA, or something equally irrelevant. I'm all for this kid's freedom of speech and all, but Rosa Parks this ain't.

I wonder if they're becoming an irrelevant organization, which would be unfortunate considering all the positive work they did in the past.

The ACLU certainally appears to be going though some changes lately, however, they are one of the only more liberial civil rights orginizations that will defend consertive clients.

I donno...I am torn between wanting to write them checks for their privacy initatives and frustrated at them for some of their initatives to remove God from XXX or references to religion if it doesn't pass what they consider right/wrong.....

Hrm....

Those are the two reasons I would support them. Especially removing God from everything state related. However, they do focus on so many ridiculous things that it makes it hard to defend them in general.

I don't really see what's adrift here. They censored her personal thoughts, and that' wrong.

I'm with Adam 100% on this one.

While I agree the ACLU has done some ridiculous stuff in recent times. It seems that this was a worthwile cause. I don't see the harm in her expressing her personal thoughts, when they asked her to do it.

I should have been more clear that I wasn't referencing this case in particular, but the general actions(or inaction) of the ACLU over the last few years.
