![]() | OK, You Conservatives May Have Been Right on This One http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/06/19/cli...raq/index.html In recent days, Clinton has showered praise on George W. Bush as a person, released his book and completely overshadowed John Kerry in the media, and now offers support for Bush's war, a major issue in this campaign. Perhaps you all were very correct in asserting Clinton's intention on keeping Kerry out of the White House. We all knew Clinton is only happy when the spotlight is shining on him, but he really seems to be making a blatant effort to give a hand to Bush here. Bad, BAD ex-President. |

Clinton is definetly a major player (if not 'the' major player) as far as Dem. king making goes. How he uses that power is sometimes a bit odd. However, personal aggrandisement seems to be a prime motivator. He will always be a fascinating cat to watch.

Or perhaps it is a backward way of putting a positive spin on Democrats. Remember that Clinton is very popular with Democrats and carries a far more positive imagine than Kerry does. I think in due time we will see Clinton coming out in support of Kerry. As far as Clinton's comments about Bush, there's a few things to consider. One, Bush made comments of how "great" Clinton was at the hanging of his picture in the White House, so Clinton was in a place where it would be professional of him to say the same thing. It's professional courtesy. Also, to criticize Bush for the Iraq War would make him look like a complete hypocrit since he tried to do the same thing. It would be a poor decision for him personally to come off that way, and would probably reflect poorly on Kerry.

I don't think it has anything to do with Kerry and everything to do with Clinton's impending book release.

It couldn't be about the White House paintings speech that Bush gave to the Clinton's. He has been praising Bush for the Iraq war for several months now. Actually, since last summer. It's obvious what Clinton's doing. At any other time Clinton would be blasting the hell out of Bush. The only thing on the line here for Bush is the Iraq issue. In my opinion, if he were trying to help Kerry, he should be blasting the hell out of the current administration, but he's not. If he cared about Kerry's election, he would have waited until Christmas time(after the election) to promote his book to keep from taking the steam away from Kerry. He claims that he will be behind Kerry in '04 when asked, but does anyone believe that he would publicly announce that he would not? It's all about them. He doesn't give a shit about Kerry, at all. And if I have anything to say about it, Clinton and McCollugh will do anything to keep Kerry from winning. |

Maybe he's just trying to look like a nice guy to sell more books. I have a hard time believing he really gives a damn about advancing anyone's career other than his own, be it John Kerry, Hilary Clinton, or anyone else. The only thing we can ever be sure about Billy Bob is that whatever it is he's doing, he's doing it for his own gain. But hey, his tactics always seem to work. I find the man intriguing and will probably read his book just to try and understand what is going through his head. Love him or hate him, he is certainly an interesting individual.

Only an egomaniac like Clinton would write a book about his life and make it 957 pages. For comarison, I have a book detailing the state of the world with in-depth looks into economics, health care, fossil fuels, air quality, acid rain, deforestation, etc. etc. etc. and it's less than 600 pages.
