Royal asshole or government patsy?

For some reason this article doesn't set well with me. Why would a highly decorated pilot with the best training deliberately disobey orders like the higher-ups are claiming he did just out of the blue one day? It just doesn't make sense to me. Stinks of cover-up actually. Gotta love politics and the military.
