Momentarily disregard whether you like/dislike the movie or Moore. Also disregard momentarily whether you think it is accurate or not. The movie has been a positive for the nation as a whole. It has offered people a slightly different version of the facts from the mainstream media in a way in which a large portion of the population is willing to digest it. I find it inherently valuable that people are talking about the political situation of the country in a very critical time and are willing to openly discuss politics in a way that people normally do not. As to whether the movie is accurate or not has also turned out to be a positive. A huge, rather open national debate has erupted over events and questions that were never raised or exposed by the mainstream media in the past four years. I certainly think there is credible arguments on both sides and it's good that people are getting involved and educating themselves. (Although personally I think there are far more salient questions to be raised, beggars can't always be choosers.) Granted, there's a lot of dumb shit put out there attacking the movie, as well as a fair share of dumb shit put out there defending the movie. Regardless, I find it better to have even a weak public political discourse than the spotlight on who Brittney is fucking.

Your argument would be stronger of the stimulus wasn't so messed up. Bad speech is best countered with good speech (lies with truths) - not silencing the lie - - - however - - - some lies are awefully destructive - - - I think Moore does more damage with his lies than the good created in discussing those lies. | |
