![]() | Delaying the Election
Are you f*cking kidding me? Bush's advisors are going to be the death of his presidency. I am glad this kind of stuff keeps happening, though, because it shows his incompetence, his arrogance, and his willingness to trample democracy. 3 1/2 more months of this asshole! http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/...in627204.shtml |

Yeah, I saw this stuff last night. They're only talking about a delay if something like 9/11 happens on election day, though; I think its appropriate. However -- doesn't this mean that the terrorists have won??? OMFG. |

Really. Who would the enemy rather have in office? Kerry and Edwards? or Bush and Cheney? They got what they wanted in Spain. A peace-loving socialist. After watching the softball interview on 60 Min's last night between flip-flop and mop-top, I think it's obvious who they'd rather have. They're not that stupid.

If the Civil War didn't stop the elections, why would an attack on America present any need to stop them? Quote:

B) The enemy has already endorsed Bush/Cheney publicly. They know that as long as Bush is in power, the world will hate us. His war in Iraq has increased both the ranks and funding of al Qaeda, and has alienated us completely. They know that with Kerry/Edwards in office, the world is going to be much more willing to work with the United States to root these people out. C) A terrorist attack would likely have the opposite effect here that it had in Spain. First off, most likely targets for terrorism (ie Boston, NYC, LA, San Francisco, DC, etc.) are overwhelmingly Democrat. Second, American think completely opposite from Spaniards. D) We have held elections in the middle of the Civil War and two world wars, so I think we can handle this. This is just another scare tactic for this desperate, dying administration. E) I'll take "Flip-Flop and Mop Top" over the Ogre Cheney and his pet chimp Bonzo any day of week.

They waged a war on us because we were a paper-tiger regarding the constant strikes against us and the hostages that were taking place since the 70's. It's adamant that us waging a war on their soil didn't change anything. We are the #1 enemy, and it's not going to change. Saying that we are only going to piss them off more doesn't change the fact that we are at war. Of course they're going to get pissed.

I think I'm going to stop reading A&P until November, because I can't flog this dead horse any more.

There were a lot of statements coming out of capital hill about this. There's no chance in hell the election will be delayed. A lot of bold statements were held supporting election day no matter the circumstances... Just more journalistic hype to make the sheep bleet...

If an event did disrupt the election and there was no contingency plan in place you'd be screaming bloody murder about that too Ryan. Having said that.... postponing the election even with disruptions is absolutely stupid. Let's assume that the 9/11 attacks occurred on election day. Let's say 100,000 people were among those prevented from voting either by being dead, emergency personel, traffic issues etc etc) - if the guy who lost the state lost by an equal number or more than the number of people disrupted we can say only that the missing votes MAY have narrowed the margin of defeat. BTW - in 2000 Gore beat GW by 1.7 million votes in New York. It will be VERY difficult to demonstrate that a terrorist disruption actually changed the outcome of a State's returns.
