I was watching him on The Daily Show tonight, and he raised the issue that he thought Bush brought us to war in Iraq in the wrong manner. He says he doesn't think that Bush exhausted all measures before war, and that war should be a last resort. If he believes that, why did he vote for the war in Iraq in the first place? If somebody knows of an interview he gave or a piece he has written refuting this, I would greatly appreciate a link to it.

He says he voted to give the president the authority to go to war. He thought a president should have that authority. I think it is pretty clear he is parsing the issue, but I'm willing to bet he would have made a better effort to build a coalition than Bush. If for no other reason then at least party pressure would have been enough.

I think the real reason he voted for it was political. At that time 2/3 of the country was pounding their war drums, including half the people in this forum and in this country who now hate Bush and the war. All of us who opposed the war for whatever reason were called "traitors," "commies," and "stupid libs" by all the war-happy Americans and no politician wanted to be grouped with us, especially considering how it would have effected the outcome of this election had Bush been right. That's just my opinion, though. I'm sure Kerry will have to answer that question at some point in the campaign.

bwhahaha - in your dreams. Really. Those countries Kerry keeps pointing to came out a few weeks ago telling us that even if Kerry were elected, they would still hold firm on their decision not to get involved in Iraq. Just as any other issue, Kerry tells us he would do everything better, but doesn't go into details. Give me a break. | |

He's a Senator, He is supposed to represent the people in his area. Maybe it was their will? I wasn't aware that Senators were supposed to make descions based on deep seeded moral obligations, merely that they should do their best to express the will of the people they represent
