![]() | Politics in the Park - September 25
for those of you looking for an excuse to come to Austin for a weekend... POLITICS IN THE PARK Saturday September 25 An entertaining day of voter registration, information and motivation, designed to register voters and call the Austin community to action. Austin is filled with independent thinkers and citizens who take pride in voicing their opinion. But sadly there are still those who don’t exercise their right to vote. By gathering people through music and art, we hope to emphasize the importance of that civic duty not only through voting, but also by learning how to make a difference in local communities. Ultimately, we hope to achieve a day of thought, interaction, and communication. We aim to register at least 300 potential voters while raising awareness within the community and spreading information about topics affecting us in the upcoming elections. Diverse musical performances will range from rock to dance and hip-hop, from artists including DJ Mel, The Pretty Please, The Alpha Rhythm, Grommitt, The Unbearables, Tee Double and DJ Herb. In addition to our musical lineup, activities include frisbee, football, massage, jugglers, hand balancers, art installations, and more. Guest speakers throughout the day will provide thought-proviking commentary and opinions. Organizational sponsors include Feedback Magazine, Burn The Box Movement, and Rock The Vote.
