Rock the Vote? Not to Vote?

So, this election will be my first time to vote in a Presidential election (or any actually).

I'm 19, go to college, and see "Rock the Vote" everywhere and then some.

I want your opinions on this whole issue, because with the options given, and the tactics being used in these campaigns, do you all believe that the younger generation will vote more than in the past, or what?

Personally, I'm voting (not sure why anymore) cause I feel this might be ONE time I need to. I was raised with an idea that voting in the states is pointless, and this whole election really drives that home for me. What are your opinions?

Our president is George W. Bush. Is there any reason not to vote?

I think you should still vote, even if you feel your vote won't count. If nothing else, the lessons from 2000 indicate that no matter what state you are in your vote counts for something.

You're not just voting for a President, but Congressman and State Reps in your district (people you can actually meet in person). I'm going to be sick if Bush wins the Presidency even though Kerry got the popular vote. Surely lightening can't strike twice in that respect. I think Kerry will win both but by a slim margin.

Not only will you be voting for prez/veep but you will also be voting for U.S. House (I think Hutchinson might be up for reelection for the Senate this time), state and local officials and your vote will count. Also, there will probably be some referenda for state constitutional amendments to vote on too.

Hehe, but what about my other point. How will the youth, my generation of incoming voters view all this? Do you believe this is impacting us in some way that perhaps you all never got?
