"Stability" like in the cities that were once held by the coalition and were taken over again by insurgents? Who ever said that nothing good was coming from this war? Many good things are happening, but they do not mean the war is not a disaster. Our own CIA reported that the country is on the brink of civil war, for Christ's sake. And all I keep hearing from the people who have actually been there is that it is an out-of-control shitstorm in many parts of the country. Just because you all won't admit it doesn't mean it isn't true.

bfp, you're denial of anything bad in Iraq dishonors those troops and civillians that have lose their lives in this ill-advised, ill-planned and over eager invasion. 12,000 dead civillians. More than a thousand dead coalition soldiers. The death rate is more, per month, this year, than it was last year at the start and end of "major combat operations".

And you say things are improving?

I say this is just the start and it's only going to get worse.

Let's just look at the indisputable facts:

1) The death rate is higher among civilians and soldiers than it was one year ago
2) The opposition to the coalition is larger today than it was one year ago
3) There are more foreign terrorists in the country today than there were one year ago
4) There are several cities like Fallujah that were once held by the coalition and our now being held by insurgents
5) The CIA says that the country is on the brink of civil war

Until there is security in the country, the people know that all of their new freedoms can go away in an instant. You all should be ashamed of discounting the horrid situation over there for politics.
