| A Constructive Thread About the Upcoming Election
Those of you who have decided to vote in the Presidential election, I would like to know what it is that makes you want to vote for your candidate. What issues, morals, values, etc. make this candidate the best one for our country in your eyes? No bashing please. I am only interested in what you think YOUR candidate has to offer, not what you think is wrong with the other candidate.

Nader is the candidate that best represents my views. So I am voting for him. But if I lived in a non-red state I would vote for Kerry. Although the two are very, very similar on many issues, the few issues they differ on (such as health care) could bring significant benefit to millions.

It's not possible to discuss why we chose our candidate without taking jabs at the other guy. For most of us, we support our candidate because the other guy is so absolutely horrid. 1) GW has managed the economy more foolishly than any other modern president, PERIOD. Kerry cannot do worse. And I do like the fact that Kerry has said, although he does support a LOT of social programs like most Democrats, that he will cut them drastically if he has to in order to trim the deficit. GW doesn't even seem to realize there is a problem. 2) GW cannot handle Iraq - it is a f***ing nightmare, and I have a little brother who has already been there and will probably have to go back. Neither candidate has a solid plan for dealing with the situation because it's such a disaster, but a) Kerry at least acknowledges the problem whereas Bush seems completely clueless, b) I do believe Kerry will gain more international support, and c) Bush needs to be punished for his foolishness in getting us into this disaster against the better judgement of the entire world. 3) GW is embarrassing for this country. He is not an inelligent, eloquent, or wise man at all. Integrity is important, but it's also important to represent our country with dignity and I believe Kerry will do a far better job of that. 4) GW is a religious fanatic on the fringes of the right-wing. Kerry is far more in line with my own views with respect to abortion, gay rights, stem cell research, etc. |

the libertarian canidate Michael Badnarik best represents me. I stand for limited goverenment and self-rule. I have historically supported republicans do there policy of small government, limited spending, and low taxes. however, i can no longer tell a difference between the Democrats and Republicans. The Republicans have expanded the government more than any other republican administration in these last 4 years. The Iraq war is the biggest sham ever to my generation, very akin to Vietnam. Department of Homeland and TSA, recipe for disaster. The Democrats want to raise taxes and create a socialist state, but at least we might have some liberties. The Patriot Act is McCarthyism at its finest. It's funny how the Republicans stand for small government yet they are first in line to legislate morality.
