I know I want Bush out of office. But I don't want to leave the voting booth feeling like I sold out for a corporate whore. Really my conscious tells me to vote Nader as I don't feel American's should be compromising their belief system for presidential candidates.

I feel the same way Keith. But I am looking at it like this: Even though all logic tells us it won't happen, how would you feel if Bush only lost Texas to Kerry by one vote. Again, I know it won't happen, but I would shoot myself if it did and I voted for Nader.

It's more that he doesn't compromise anything to appeal to moderates. Kerry really is a flip-flopper and doesn't stand by what he believes in(that's if he believes in anything at all). He does what his advisors tell him to and addresses what issues he deems worthy of recognition by reading the polls. I can tell just by juding from what I see of the man's character that he really is two faced.

True, but consumer activism and effective political leadership do not necessarily go hand in hand. Also, I'm sure I could find more than a few folks who would argue that his "record of fighting for Americans" has often consisted of irrational anti-capitalism for the sake of sticking it to the "establishment."

Nader is the most effective candidate in the race.

Effective at what? At giving the Bush administration a leg up in the race?

Nader would never allow activist conservative judges onto federal benches.

Translation: Nader would always allow activist liberal judges onto federal benches.

A vote for Nader is a vote for the end of politics as usual.

Maybe for him, but not likely for Congress who would undoubtedly block everything he attempted to do.

Nader is the only candidate demanding health care for all.

That's a reason to vote against him, in my opinion. I have traveled extensively and experienced socialized healthcare in many places around the world - and it sucks. We need reform, not more taxpayer giveaways that will drive up costs and drive down the level of service for those of us working our asses off to make it.

Nader fights to save America’s family farms.

Every president in the last few decades has handed out huge farm subsidies and they haven't worked. By this logic, we ought to just hand out money to every small business as long as they're competing with big companies. What is so unique about farmers?

Ralph Nader is against the death penalty.

I agree with him here, but there is nothing he could do about this.

Nader stands against racial discrimination.

Don't most people? Nader differs in that he wants to have the same affirmative action policies that we had in the '60s and he has even argued for slave reparations. Have you ever looked at the economics behind that deal?

Nader stands against Taft-Hartley

Some good and some bad. Nader is actually radically pro-union, which historically is not good for commerce.

Nader stands against the bloated Defense budget.

Well so do I, but I don't know about "abolishing" our nuclear weapons programs altogether and expect that everyone else in the world will follow suit. Nader, in my opinion, does not take our national defense very seriously.

Nader stands against discrimination based on sexual preference.

I will definitely agree with him on that.

Nader opposes genetically modified foods.

I agree on that too, but there's more hysteria than science behind that.

Nader supports a living wage.

I agree in part, though the minimum wage should be raised gradually, not all at once.

Nader supports a crackdown on corporate crime.

I would hope so.

Nader opposes corporate welfare.

But he supports welfare for unincorporated businesses? I agree that we should end all corporate welfare, but I don't think we should have a president who picks and chooses which businesses to shell out tax dollars to.

Ralph Nader will fight for the abolition of child poverty in America.

What does that mean? He provides no explanation for it.

Nader supports fair taxation.

Ah, the sin tax. Turns out there is something that right-wing Republicans and Ralph Nader can agree on, other than re-electing George W. Bush, that is.

I'd most likely vote for Kerry if this wasn't Texas.

Texas will not even come close to going to Kerry, don't fool yourself.

So you have greater liberty in selecting a candidate here for what you want in a candidate as opposed to voting for the option most likely to prevent what you fear.
