More Newsmax Fun: Kerry Surging in Iowa

...Up 11 points among votes already cast. Is it possible that the polls and politicians seriously under-estimated the opposition to Bush, or is this simply a Newsmax tactic to try and get Bush voters motivated? I ask honestly because down here, you'd think Kerry was going to win 98% of the popular vote. I really can't gauge anything from what I see in Austin. Anyway, this is the fourth poll of votes already cast I've seen and all four had Kerry up FAR more than the polls have predicted.

Austin is a very liberal city, so it's not a very good indicator of the rest of the country. Kerry will probably pull most of the big cities across the country, but I think Bush has a very strong hold on the rural areas which comprises a substantial voting bloc, especially in the midwest, south and west (except the coast).

But I do think that Kerry has been making a strong showing the past few weeks and no doubt it has benefited him greatly in the polls. But ultimately, it's just one poll that matters.

Austin is liberal? You got to be kidding me? 90% of the people I've met from Austin have all been staunchly conservative. Of course there are always exceptions, but this is a Texas city, and I find it hard to believe that it is fairly liberal.

Central, East, and South Austin are staunchly liberal. The city as a whole has many more registered Democrats than Republicans. The Northern suburbs are like little slices of Dallas/Houston/San Antonio - conservative, self-centered, and obnoxious.
