The article that started this thread claims she has an extensive hisory of nutjobness. SO what percentage of a nutjob is she? Furthermore, what percentage of nutjobness does one need to be in order to constitute legally insane as opposed to temporary insane, in your opinion?

I also heard on the news this morning that CPS failed to check on the woman on a regular basis. Perhaps if someone actually did their job, this could have been prevented.

according to the "news" they did do checks on her on a regular basis, according to them, and everyone else that witnessed them together, she did not appear, and there was nothing obviouslly wrong with her.

CPS did their part...... when something happens like this it is super sad, and such a shame, CPS did what they could, they saw the family as ok, and there was no threat, so they stopped evaluating.

Probably the same thing w/ the doctor. She probably appeard to be fine, and told them that she was fine, and she stopped taking her medication, especially due to post partum depression, i know how my doctor was when i decided i didnt need medication anymore.

Realistically think about it.

The reason why CPS was called on her in the first place back right after the baby was born, is because she left the 6 day old infant alone in the apartment for a short period of time. When something like that is done, i woudnt think that it would need Months and years of evaluation by CPS.

Same thing w/ post partum depression. As scott said, and as you and I know jessica, that post partum depression is a real thing, ranging from mild to extreme, it goes away though, thats what doctors look at :-/

I haven't read anything about this story and only saw one broadcast on the news, so I don't really know enough details to form an opinion.

However, doctors know that stopping medication abruptly can have severe consequences depending on the individual, and to ignore that possibility is just absurd, especially if the woman had a history of negligence (which I've gathered she does)

Post partum is very real, and xiannaix's wife is lucky and one of the few if she didn't expirience any sort of symptoms. My issues were proven to be more hormonal than mental so the only medicine I had to take for awhile were estrogen suppliments along with bc so I consider myself to be lucky as well.

ANY woman who kills her kids needs to:

1) Go to jail.

2) Get counseling.

3) Have their reproductive organs removed, so there is NO RISK of that woman giving birth to a child again. And tying her tubes won't be good enough... too many people get pregnant even after the tubes are tied.

Oh... and I don't care if this lady was insane or not... she should NEVER be allowed to WALK among people who don't kill their babies... again.

She did NOT call 911... 911 called her... because she called a friend (??) or something... who called a daycare (???) who called 911.

Basically... 911 called her... she answered the phone... and they asked about the baby... and she calmly stated that she cut the babies arms off.

When they asked her to bring the baby to the phone... as they didn't believe her (they were amazingly collected and calm, and rational through the whole call)... she went to go get the baby, but never came back to the phone.
