i wish i knew why they would think that they are perfectly able to be alone with their children.... this sickens me, and saddens me. I think its one of those "its better if the child is w/ their real parent" other than a foster home, or foster care..... which in these types of situation, foster care would be the best resort

i just dont know.

i dont understand how someone could do that to a child.. or hurt them in any way.... an 11month old is so innocent.... i dont see what these people are thinking

It is remarkably difficult to remove a child from a home permanently and terminate parental rights. The cost sometimes seems remarkably high - this case would be a horrifying example.

However, think about this.... what kind of conduct/risk is sufficient to remove a child from the home? What is sufficient to terminate parental rights? Who gets to make these decisions? What standards of review will we have? If reasonable people can disagree on the answers to those questions we begin to see how difficult the reality of these problems is.

This lady had another incident a while back where she just left the child alone in the house and ran out screeming down the street. She was checked out by doctors and was determined "ok" to raise her child. And then this happened.

When a person does something like this, it is easy to cast stones and judgement right off the bat. BUT, do you really think she thought she was doing something wrong. I dont. This was a crazy incident and this lady was obviously in a state of mind that was no where near normal. This lady needs immidiate help, not punishment. I would hold the doctors responsible for letting this happen.

she knew she was doing something wrong when she told the cops who called to check on her, that she chopped her baby's arms off.

she KNEW it was wrong, yet she still did it,

you cant tell me that these psychopaths dont know they are doing something wrong.. they do, they just hold no remorse for what they have done.

she might need immediate help.. but she also deserves a life of punishment for doing this....

sorry, but if you think that she should go a couple years getting help, adn then be able to be "free" among us, then maybe you need some help too

Mentally unstable people on multiple medications sometimes aren't able to control their actions, and don't have the mental capacity to feel the emotional repercussions of their actions. She's not a psychopath, she didn't do it maliciously. She did it because she's insane and shouldn't have been breeding in the first place.

i understand that, i understand mental illness.. i studied it for a while... but i do know that, these people have no remorse for what they have done

i do believe that they should get help, but i do not believe that they shouldnt be punished for what they have done.

treat it the same as murder.... either locked away in a jail... or in a hospital for the rest of their lives.

The Dr.s didn't sever the baby's arms.

Are you going to require a Dr.'s permission to raise a kid? Or, were you just expressing frustration that such a horrible thing could happen?
