| Court slaps face of Botson Bay Transportation Authority on pro-Pot ad
BOSTON - The Boston "T's" ban on pot ads is going up in smoke. A federal appeals court has ruled the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority violated the First Amendment by rejecting ads from a group that wants to legalize pot.
Transit officials claimed the ads would encourage kids to try marijuana. Officials also argued they have the right to protect riders from offensive or illegal messages. But in the ruling, the court found that the MBTA regularly has liquor ads that are more appealing to youngsters than the marijuana ads.
