I know it is 4 years away. But who do you think the Republicans will have for a strong Presidential nominee? (given today's "market") | |

I think Condi's a good pick as well, Frist might step up, Powell would be nice too, but a long shot. I personally think Condi is perfect. So much for Republicans being racist, facist, sexest, like many democrats would have you beleive. Last time I checked, Robert Byrd was a democrat, and Bush's cabinet is more racially and sexually diverse than any previous administration. Ofcourse, you know, if your a black republican, you MUST be an uncle tom. |

I don't think the GOP has a slam dunk to run in '08. Cheney would never get elected even if he did run, Powell won't go near it, McCain couldn't get party support, and Condi would have a hard time getting the white Southern base. I think Giuliani could win a national election fairly easily, but he'd have a hard time making it through the primaries because the Christian-right would go ape shit at the prospect of a pro-choice candidate. I think the only thing they have in their favor is that the Democrats have fewer good prospects than they do. It's way to early to even speculate, though.
