![]() | A Shame - Regarding the Indecency Bill
Looks like the indecency bill will be passing quite easily. Anyone oppose this bill? I definently oppose. I will obviously be switching to satellite radio once Stern moves over. I wonder if enough people move to satellite the gov't will want to regulate it then. |

Unfortunately, that is the result of our "recovering" President, 12 steps to being closer.

Actually, the individual that's mainly responsible for this bill lives in Michigan I do believe, and owns the Whirlpool corporation. He is lobbying a certain congressman(I forget his name). I guess he alone understands whats best for us. | |

Isn't the problem with this type of legislation nailing down a definition of decency? Seems to me that most of the time these censorship types want to enforce morals for everyone else that they don't observe themselves. I say if you don't like something on tv or radio, turn it off, read a book, or better yet, the constitution. Conservatives, who currently are in control always preach free market and limited government intrusion never seem to defend those principles. If indeed the majority of americans were offended by the programming in question, wouldn't low ratings result in its cancellation? And conversely wouldn't prime time be all 700 club and Little House on the Prairie reruns if thats what got ratings?

Fear of higher fines would "make it safe" for parents to watch TV and listen to the radio with their children, said Rep. Joe Barton, R-Texas yeah, since when do parents and children listen to the radio together? I think all the people like Howard Stern and Russ Martin WILL go to satellite and then the radio stations will be shit out of luck......I personally like listening to them....the only radio station I really listen to for the music is JackFM.... |
