The administration has said the drilling offers "the "single greatest prospect" for onshore oil and gas development anywhere in the United States; its passage would represent a major legislative triumph for Bush. To make that happen, Senate Republicans are attaching the drilling measure to a budget bill that requires only a simple majority to pass. By contrast, overcoming a filibuster requires 60 votes

so Congress is looking to pass a bill authorizing drilling.... the DNC tried to block and the RNC out flanked them... Which means you're pissed that the RNC used a parliamentarian technique to counter a GOP parliamentarian technique? Duplicitous that....

The technique used to get the bill an up or down vote is no more or less contemptable than the technique used to block the vote on it. As for drilling, you're right there will be no immediate impact on prices. There will however, be a long term impact on them.

What astonishes me is that we use such high number of oil, and yet it seems the supply is limitless, when it can't be... when does it end, and what happens then?

the level of shortsightedness in this country is disturbing. if all the energy & money directed towards arctic drilling was used on alternative energy sources...oh wait, that wouldn't grease bush's pocket

Man, it's become impossible to get a straight answer from you people... Scratch that, it never was. Ok, ok. So let's say if we ONLY use that oil then it lasts two years, then will it really lower prices that much or maky that big of a difference in the market? And seriously, what do projections say about all this oil being used up? When, what do we do then, any plans for that day? I ask on a global scale and solely for the US. |

does anyone complaining on here about oil consumption drive a hybrid car, take the dart buses or even car pool in cab when they go out??? if not you are not really doing your part to combat the wastefulness that you so despise. Quote:

actually they do offer a tax break http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/...104549,00.html but isnt that a bit besides the point....most people find it a necessity to buy a car anyway so even if you are not getting the tax break shouldnt you buy the most economical/fuel efficient..... that still does not explain why you and or your friends dont take the bus to work and call a minivan cab that runs on natural gas(and yes they have them) to take you to crave and seven.
