So where does this fit into the whole "fair and just god" theme of christianity?

Christianity is a religon watered down to suit various agendas of any particular church. I.E. Christianity says turn the cheek, but I didn't see any turning of cheeks when it came to Iraq.

Religon is useless. Being religous and spiritual are two different things. I would say not being religous and being spiritual is more to the true teachings of Jesus.

Where did you come up with the belief that god was "fair and just"? (not saying it doesn't exist anywhere in the text - proll does - I'm asking where you came up with it)

And, how do you define "fair and just"?

Lastly, how would you confine the devine to behaving only in a manner that you would subjectively consider both "fair and just"? By doing so you would restrict the devine to the rules of man.... which makes the devine no longer devine.

Because it was tradition to offer a sacrifice to god in repentance of sins...

Jesus, as the ultimate sacrificial lamb was sacrificed so that final scarifice was sufficient for the forgiveness of all sins by all who would believe in him..... that's a lot of sin - so the sacrifice had to be a biggie.

But, I think you'd follow up with, "why? He's god, he makes the rules. He could have done it another way couldn't he?"

Id's say, yes he could. But, he didn't. Why? You'd have to ask him.

Doesn't the Bible, or any religious language confine the divine anyway? I mean, we are ALREADY restricting a SUPERNATURAL force with the language of man, not the mention most every religious text I've ever heard of has defined God in some manner, thus confining him.

I bet he now thinks it was not worth it. Jesus died so we could continue to kill people in wars, drive around in our SUV's sucking down Quarter Pound Cheeseburgers killing the enviroment and ourselves at the same time. We live in the richest country in the world, and we have people struggling to feed their family daily while other families has people like Paris Hilton never doing anything remotely helpful to their fellow man except maybe a donation to a few charities here and there because they need the tax reduction.

If I was Jesus, there would be very few Americans above the 100,000 dollar tax bracket squeezing through that eye of the needle called heaven.

And what is funniest about the whole damn thing is that most of the people supposedly living for Christ are some of the fakest, two faced snakes to ever slither upon the earth. If ever there were end times, these are it.
