Republicans are not about state's rights, small government, or anything of the sort. They are big government political hacks, their voting base is just too stupid to realize it in most cases.

I wouldn't call 47 out of 203 a "load". More Dems opposed than didn't. Of course, the sad truth is that if all the Dems and Reps that didn't agree with that terrible excuse for a law hadn't shown up in the first place(well, except 1. They need 1 to object to a unanimous voice vote), there would have been no quorum, and the bill could not have passed.

Not that it means anything now, though, since the Federal Court has denied the Schindlers motion.
